Mary Lois Burgess (nee' Ovardits) Born May 17, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio passed away August 7, 2014 in Troy, Michigan age 86. Beloved wife of Roy Thomas Burgess, mother of Sandra Jean Burgess and Robert Kent Burgess, grandmother of Adam David Burgess and Cynthia Marie Burgess, mother-in-law of Sharon Lee Burgess. Daughter and only child of the late Rudolph Reszso Ovardits and Margaret (nee' Klaus) Ovardits. Mary Lois was an honors graduate of West Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1946. She met her future husband in dance class during their senior year of high school. They were married July 15, 1950. After a short career as a secretary for vice presidents at the Cleveland headquarters of National City Bank, Mary Lois became a full-time wife, mother and homemaker.In 2002, she was honored as Woman of the Year at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Warren, Michigan for her devoted Christian service. Though her "MLB Craft Creations," she produced hundreds of handmade knitted and plastic canvas crafts and thousands of crosses, giving every cent of the proceeds to her church. She loved to feed the squirrels and birds on the backyard patio at her Troy, Michigan home. She was famous for her homemade brownies, which she baked for many charitable and civic occasions. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Road, Madison Heights, Michigan 48071. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church 29860 Dequindre Road Warren, Michigan 48092. She will be in state from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11:00 a.m.. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at White Chapel Cemetery, 621 West Long Lake Road, Troy, Michigan 48098.
