Joel "Joe" Edward Rose, age 82, of Tawas, MI and Sun Lakes, AZ passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was born and raised in Virginia by the late Orbin & Jeanette Rose. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife and stepdaughter by his side.
Joe was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1965-1968 and was stationed in Germany. After returning from the Army, He married the love of his life, Alma in Tawas, MI and spent 55 wonderful years together. Joe was an Electrical Engineer working in the machine repair/rebuild industry at DeVlieg Machine Co. in Royal Oak, MI and then spending his last 17 years and Honeywell in Phoenix, AZ before retiring in 2002.
In his retirement years Joe enjoyed spending the summers at his home in Tawas, MI with his wife Alma and looked forward to the many visits from his children and grandchildren. He was always planning adventures and fun things to do with his grandchildren, and they loved him dearly. In his free time, he loved to spend time in his pole barn fixing almost anything and working on his tractor. Among his other hobbies Joe enjoyed the outdoors, collecting old farm tools and pocketknives. “Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever”.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Alma; his stepchildren Mickey (Kimberly) Spencer, Gary (Kristy) Spencer, Tami (Drewey) Lovins; grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Leah, Brandi, Katie, Zachary, Michael, and 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Orbin and Jeanette Rose and his siblings Jim Rose, Peggy Sozke and Lloyd Rose.
The family will greet guests Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10:00AM up until the Funeral Service at 12:00PM, at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
Interment will be at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan.
