Rick was born on November 3, 1963 in Bridgeport, CT. He was the son of the late Richard Michaud and Virginia Bedat. Rick received a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport; and a Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Rick was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, and practiced before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Connecticut State and Federal Circuit courts. Rick was the founding member and managing partner of the Michaud-Kinney Group LLP, Middletown, CT, where he was principle in establishing an international intellectual property law practice. Rick lectured extensively on intellectual property law issues at Quinnipiac University and at business and industry events. Prior to practicing law, Rick was a senior design engineer at Dorr Oliver, Incorporated.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Jane, and their two sons, Corey and Tyler. Rick also leaves a brother Brian Michaud, New York. Rick was a proud husband and father who often boasted of his sons’ many accomplishments. Rick’s family and friends will remember him for his strong work ethic, dedication to family, generosity, easy laugh and instant ability to turn a potential client into a lifelong friend.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 am Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the First Congregational Church of Madison, located at 26 Meetinghouse Lane, Madison, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
