Peter J. Boswell, 76 of Madison, CT passed away November 7, 2010. He was born March 29, 1934 in Jersey City, NJ to James and Catherine (McLaughlin) Boswell. Peter is preceded in death by parents, daughter Diane (Boswell) Brennan and brother, Dr. James Boswell. He is survived by loving children Catherine Gordon of NJ, Laura Boswell of NJ, Peter “Bo” Boswell and his wife Jill of Madison, CT, Anne Boswell and her fiancé Jonathan Orcutt of Branford, CT. Peter is also survived by ten grandchildren, Shaun, Christine, Matthew, Kelly, William, Brandon, Daniel, Sarah, Megan, Amy, two former wives June (Harrington) Radford of NJ, Violet (Clarke) Boswell of Norwalk, CT and sister-in-law Ann (Ruether) Boswell of Plymouth MA. Peter attended St. Cecilia’s grade and high school in Kearny, NJ. He proudly served his country in Korea from 1953-1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After returning home he attended Fairleigh Dickinson College and Columbia University. Peter had a long, successful career in sales working his way up into executive management. His business career took him to many areas of the country beginning in Kearny, New Jersey, then on to St. Louis, Missouri, Chicago, Illinois, Huntington Beach, California, Janesville, Wisconsin, ultimately settling in Madison, Connecticut in 1984, where he founded Spacesaver Systems of Connecticut. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Madison Country Club where he served as a board member. His interests included sports, politics and bird-watching. He was a voracious non-fiction reader feeding his endless thirst in educating his mind. Peter possessed a wonderful personality, along with a quick wit and sense of humor which resulted in a vast network of friends throughout the country, some of which dated as far back as his grammar school days. He loved people and enjoyed having a scotch or two at happy hours with his friends. He was greatly loved by his family and friends and will be missed forever. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Swan Funeral Home 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. CT. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:30 AM at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, CT with private Committal service in NJ.
