Nancy Estabrook Colton passed away Monday August 22nd, 2016 in her home in Madison, Connecticut at the age of 88. Nancy shared 62 wonderful years with her husband Frank W. Colton. She was born on July 22nd, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to William and Rosalie Whitney and grew up in New Jersey. She graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in food technology. She met her loving husband while she was attending the last year of college. They resided in Coral Gables, FL where they had their son Stephen and subsequently in Needham, MA where they had their daughter Susan, moving on to Branford CT and finally living the last 40 years in Madison CT. Nancy volunteered at the United Nations for twenty years for several organizations. She started as a UN representative for the League of Women Voters, going on to the International Association for Volunteer Effort and finally spending several years supporting the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. She loved to discuss issues of world peace and solutions to hunger and environmental problems. Nancy was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Guilford Connecticut. She was warm, sincere, loved to laugh and encouraged everyone she knew. Nancy was also a gifted artist who loved to paint, an avid animal lover and really enjoyed playing, golf, tennis and bridge in her free time. She is survived by her husband Frank, her daughter Susan, her sister Barbara O’Connell and her nieces and nephews Lisa, Abby, Sarah and Ted (Joan).
