Michael Jon D’Avino, age 77, of Madison passed away unexpectedly on Thursday May 17, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Michael was born on November 8, 1940 in West Haven, CT to the late Angelo and Mary “Amato” D’Avino. Michael was a graduate of West Haven High School. Michael owned and operated Green’s Cleaners in New Haven for nearly 40 years and was still active in the business up until the time of his passing. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1963-1965. Michael was an avid race car driver and a die-hard NASCAR fan. Michael was an extremely active member of Club Corvette of Connecticut while also serving as the President of the Esterly Farms Home Owners Association. He was a very giving and caring person who in return had many devoted friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His survivors include his heart and soul Carole Young of Madison; a loving nephew Alfred D’Avino Jr. of Wallingford; Carole’s son Ron and his wife Laile Robinette and Carole’s granddaughter Casy Robinette all of Englewood, FL. In addition to his parents, Angelo and Mary, Michael was pre-deceased by his brother, Alfred D’Avino Sr. and his sister-in-law June D’Avino. Michael’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to their neighbors, especially Arlene Ryan, and the members of Club Corvette of Connecticut for their many acts of kindness and support during this difficult time. Friends may greet the family from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison, CT 06443. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
