Mary Donegan Acunto, 76, of Madison passed away peacefully on April 29, 2015. Mary was born in New Haven on October 11, 1938, daughter of the late Harold Donegan and Mary Sullivan Donegan. She is survived by her son Ray Acunto (Massimo Nittardi) of Southbury, daughter Cathy Salvati (Fred) of Madison, and grandchildren Nicole and Daniel Nittardi and Michael and Ava Salvati. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Raymond, and her son, David. Mary also leaves behind her brothers Harold Donegan (Karen) of New Haven, John Donegan (Betty Ann) of Branford, her sister Anne Kraemer of Washington DC, and several nieces and nephews. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and The College of New Rochelle, Mary worked as an art teacher in New Haven, North Haven, and North Branford, retiring in 2003. She resided in Madison for 43 years, and was a parishioner of St. Margaret Church. Mary was a gifted artist and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends and family may visit Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd in Madison on Monday May 4 from 5 – 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 5 at 10am at St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy Street in Madison.
