Erik Daniel Seaburg, 37, of New London, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2021. Erik was born December 12, 1983 in Houston, Texas and grew up in Madison, CT. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Kathleen (White) Seaburg of Madison, his sister Kara Fagan (William) and baby niece Sloane Elizabeth Fagan of San Francisco, CA, grandmother Jane White of Manchester, grandfather Gil Fry of Middletown, aunt Cindy Marr (Jack Hoover) of Conway NH, aunt Linda (Richard) Willett of Hernando, FLA, and cousins Matthew Marr of Manchester, Nathan Marr of Savoy, MA, and Justin Marr of Vernon. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Orrin White and his paternal grandparents Richard and Joan Seaburg.
Erik also leaves behind his fiancé Darcy Morrissette of New London and her sons, Colby and Hunter. The last few years of Erik’s life were some of his happiest due in large part to Darcy. He also leaves behind his many friends in the New London area and his childhood friends throughout the country.
Erik loved all things sports. He loved the New York Giants and the Boston Red Sox and was fortunate to have attended many games. Erik had a knack for numbers and remembered all kinds of sports statistics. He also memorized most phone numbers which came in handy since he was constantly losing his cell phone. He loved fishing, playing basketball, playing chess, and solving the daily Jumble. He loved animals, especially his childhood pets and more recently his cat, Spazz - a stray he adopted in his neighborhood.
Erik was funny. He had a great sense of humor, loved puns, and made us laugh even when inside he was struggling. Erik fought the disease of addiction most of his adult life. In death, he would want us all to understand that he would not have chosen a life of addiction. He was always grateful for our constant love and support. We take comfort that Erik is at peace now. He has taught us to follow the advice of the adage: Be kind to all for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
