Denise Tucker

Denise was born in 1948 in New York, New York to the late Jeffrey James Joyce and Jeannine Dutka Joyce. Denise had two younger brothers – the late John Timothy Joyce and Paul Michael Joyce.

She graduated from Trinity College in Hartford and went on to have a successful professional career. After working for many years in marketing for the Travelers Insurance Company, she ventured out as a small business owner of Images, a fitness studio in Chester, CT. During that time, Denise also became a master trainer for Reebok, traveling regionally, nationally, and internationally to educate other fitness instructors. For a number of years, Denise volunteered as the strength and conditioning coach for the Valley Regional High School football team.

Not long after retiring, Denise embraced Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and had a voracious hunger to grow as a follower of Jesus. She became an active member of the congregation of Christ Chapel, Madison, CT and joyfully served as coordinator of the church’s reader ministry, helping to schedule, coach and prepare scripture readers for each Sunday service.

In addition to loving her church, Denise loved her Jack Russell terriers – Hank and, most recently, Cooper. Denise, and her dear friend Carol were familiar sights walking their dogs together along the streets of Madison.

Denise is survived by her younger brother Paul Michael Joyce of Matthews, North Carolina, her sister-in-law Maria Nicolo Joyce of Marietta, Georgia, and her beloved nieces Marissa, Nina, and Elizabeth, her nephews Jeffrey and Michael, seven grandnieces and grandnephews.

Denise’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to so many people who have loved her in word and in deed over the many, many years she lived in Madison. As a way to say thank you to her friends, Denise’s family will have a small reception at Christ Chapel on Friday morning, July 16th from 9:00-10:00 am.
