Claire Reidy passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 at Madison House surrounded by her loving family. She was 100 years old. Claire was the third child and daughter of George and Anna Krepley and was born and raised in New York City.
She led an exemplary life guided by her deep faith and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a cherished friend to many. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years George, her daughter Susan and daughter-in-law Martha and great-granddaughter Chloe. She is survived by her sons Christopher of Massachusetts, David and his wife Eileen of New Jersey and Mark of Madison, Connecticut. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christine and JD and greatgrandchildren Piper, Adelaide, Brinley and Camryn.
Claire attended St. Catherine’s Elementary and High School in Washington Heights and she is a proud member of the Class of 1945 of The College of Mount St. Vincent, Bronx, NY. She worked in NYC for several years before marrying George Reidy in 1947 and then raising her family on the East Side of Manhattan. In 1970 she moved her family to her beloved Madison Connecticut. There she worked and volunteered for many years. She was the librarian at Academy Elementary School where she loved sharing her passion for books. She volunteered at The Scranton Memorial Library and was a guide at The Deacon John Graves House in Madison. Claire was active in her parish of St. Margaret where she was a CCD teacher, lector, choir member and was the Trustee of Parish and was awarded the Medal of St. Joseph by the Bishop of Hartford.
Claire literally danced through life. As a young girl she attended the New York Ballet School and often performed in their productions. She loved all kinds of dancing but ballet was always in the forefront.
Until just a few years ago she read the New York Times everyday and made her children do the same. She was also an avid reader who loved to share her passion of books with everyone.
Claire loved to laugh and found the perfect partner in her husband George as she always laughed at his jokes.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Swan Funeral Home Boston Post Road, Madison, CT 06443 on Tuesday Sept 26, 2023 from 9:00 A.M.to 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christion burial will follow 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at St. Margaret’s Church, 24 Academy Street, Madison, CT 06443. Burial will follow at West Cemetery in Madison.

Claire led an exemplary Christian life. This Etienne de Grellet quote embodied her life;
“I shall pass through the world but once.
Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being,
Let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it.
For I shall not pass this way again.”
