Bernice A. Ramsey, 92, a longtime resident of Madison, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, March 23rd. Mrs. Ramsey was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Richard, and is survived by her sister Marylu Fielder and nephew Allen and her cousin Doris Snedden.Mrs. Ramsey was born in Brookville, PA and graduated from Westminster College. She worked briefly as a school teacher until her marriage to Richard in 1943 and was a homemaker for the rest of her life.She and Richard, an early Pan Am pilot and wire rope engineer, traveled extensively throughout the world and were enthusiastic hikers, canoeist and cyclist.Mrs. Ramsey was a dedicated volunteer craft maker and donated generously to her church and many local and world wide charities.Bernie, as she was fondly known, could light up any room with her warm smile and encouraging words. Although childless, she leaves a legion of friends of all ages and her husband’s three nephews, Doug, Don and Dick of CT.Many thanks go to the Hearth in Madison and The Guilford House in Guilford for the outstanding and loving care they gave to her.A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Westbrook Congregational Church on Saturday, May 4th at 11:00 AM. She will be interred beside her husband, in the memorial garden at the First Congregational Church of Madison.In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Westbrook Congregational Church and the Salvation Army.
