Alexander J. Kozikowski, age 94, of Madison, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 20, 2015 at Peregrine’s Landing at the Shoreline in Clinton, CT. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Kozikowski and is survived by three children, Paul Kozikowski of Killingworth, Lynn Gierman of Madison, and Ann Sorensen (Curtis) of Madison, and one grandson, Mark Sorensen of Madison. Alex was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army, 942nd Airborne Engineer Squadron. He was self-employed as a builder/contractor in Tolland County for many years. Upon the birth of each of his children Alex proudly built a new house to accommodate his growing family. In the 1970’s he was employed by the State of Connecticut as a Construction Supervisor until his retirement. Alex was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and participated in many VFW functions including marching in the Memorial Day and 4th of July parades well into his eighties. The family would like to thank the aides, nurses and staff of Peregrine’s Landing for their kindness and compassion which will never be forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 28 at 11am at Saint Margaret Church, 24 Academy Street, Madison. Burial with military honors will follow at West Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Margaret Church. Arrangements are in care of Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison.
