BYRON – Willie Mae Melvin, 77, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at her residence with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Eric Byrd will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Melvin, wife of the late Clarence Eugene Melvin, was born in Thomaston, GA the daughter of the late Willie Ira and Ollie Mae Jones Greer. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose greatest love was her family. Mrs. Melvin was a member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Lindsey Cheeks.
She will be missed by those she loved most, her children, Linda M. (Ferrell) McLendon of Byron, Garry W. (Brenda) Melvin of Macon, Danny L. (Michele) Melvin of Byron and Robin M. (Ron) Jiles of Byron; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; her sister, Pauline (James) Jackson of Gray and two very special relatives, Jackie and C.B.
