MACON – William C. Speidel, 76, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in a local hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Greensboro, GA. Burial will be private. Father Joseph Greene will officiate. The family will meet friends from 4 – 5 p.m., Wednesday at “The Grande” at Carlyle Place and will also meet friends following the memorial service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central Georgia Chapter, 277 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Suite 201, Macon, GA 31201.
Mr. Speidel was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a graduate of Cornell University Hotel School. He retired as the Senior Vice President of Development for Carlson Co. Mr. Speidel was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Greensboro, GA. Mr. Speidel moved to Macon in 2009 and most recently served as President of the Resident Advisory Council at Carlyle Place. Mr. Speidel was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed a lifetime of travel including all seven continents, sixty countries and all fifty states.
Survivors include his wife, Joan B. Speidel of Macon; his daughter, Amanda Speidel; his stepson, Michael (Cydney) Harrison; his stepdaughter, Catherine Tiersten; three grandchildren, Alex Harrison, Caroline Harrison and Brandon Mansker.
