BYRON – William “Bill” Vann Hudson, Jr., 77, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Mikado Baptist Church with burial in Byron City Cemetery. The Rev. Rusty Smith, the Rev. Ed Chambliss and the Rev. Joe Ford will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Flowers are accepted or those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Mikado Baptist Church Building Fund, 6751 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216.
Mr. Hudson, son of the late William Vann Hudson, Sr. and Cleo Scarborough Hudson, was born in Montezuma and served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a chemical technician retired from the NALCO Chemical Company and was a member of the Blind Veterans Association. Mr. Hudson was a member of Mikado Baptist Church where he was also a member of GYP (Golden Years Program) and the Jehovah Jihra Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Sue Wilson Hudson of Byron; his children, Dianne Hudson (Dale) Bailey of Macon, Craig (Brenda) Hudson of Portsmouth, VA and Bradley (Denise) Hudson of Perry; three brothers, Jack Hudson and Wayne (Naomi) Hudson, all of Macon and Charles (Becky) Hudson of Duluth, GA; five grandchildren, Ashley Parks, Kyle Bailey, Jonathan Dalton, Skylar Hudson and Lindsay Hudson; two great grandchildren, Cole and Emily; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful four-legged companion, Jody.
