William Fred Hefner, Jr., 60, passed away on Monday, September 22, at his residence. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 11 a.m. at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with the Reverend Baxter Hurley and Reverend Teresa Edwards officiating. The family will greet friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, 31210.
Fred was born in Atlanta to Fred Hefner, Sr. and the late Barbara S. Hefner. He attended Lanier High School and graduated from Central High School. Fred attended Mercer University. He worked for many years in the Plumbing Supply business with Marbut Company, Hughes and Lowe Electric. For the past fifteen years, he had been an owner of a Zaxby’s franchise. He was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Fred was an Eagle Scout at the age of 13. He loved coaching baseball at Vine-Ingle and North Macon Little League. Fred loved the outdoors, especially fishing, parasailing and hang-gliding.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Wrye Hefner of Macon; children, Jason (Tracy) Hefner of Winston-Salem, NC; Will (Amy) Hefner of Macon, Molly Hefner (Ross) Weaver of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Rebecca Hefner, Amber Hefner, Airyn Hefner, Matthew Weaver, and Liam Hefner; his parents, Fred and Janice Hefner, Sr.; sister, Linda Hefner (Tom) Wood of Salem, VA; brothers, Eric (Margaret) Hefner of Macon, Chris Hefner of Macon, and Tim (Monica) Tippett of Nashville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
