Macon, GA—Mr. Billy “Big Wayne” Dixon, 67, lost his long courageous battle, late Monday evening, May 25, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29 at 2 o’clock, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Osborne and Mr. Billy Gay will officiate. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. Family suggests that those who wish, may make memorial contributions to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210. The family may also be contacted or visited at the residence of his daughter, Alicia Schewe.
Mr. Dixon was born in Macon, GA to the late Billy Armstead and Betty Louise Bonner Dixon. His sister, Gloria Miller, preceded him in death. He attended Lanier High School and Dudley Hughes High. Wayne worked as a drywall finisher for many years, working for himself and serving many area contractors. He then went on to work for the Medical Center of Central Georgia’s facilities management, retiring after 20 plus years of service. He was a dedicated husband, father, poppa and loyal friend to many.
Surviving Mr. Dixon are his devoted wife of nearly 47 years, Cary Dixon; daughter, Kerry Alicia Schewe; sons, Wesley Wayne Dixon (loving and diligent caregiver), Travis Ashley Dixon; granddaughter, Sydney Schewe; sisters, Mary Alford, Donna Sheffield; brothers, Larry Dixon, Sammy Dixon; aunt, Ann Youmans; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and his 3 fur babies, Lucy, Cash, and PeeWee.
