A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry St. Burial will be private with Military honors with the Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends with a reception on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggest that those who wish make donations to the donor’s favorite charity.The family may be contacted at his residence.
Wade was a man of tremendous strength of character and faith and a true southern gentleman. He worked hard his entire life and was always looking for ways to serve his church and fellow man. Wade was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church and the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class.
His career spanned 42 years of Civil Service at Warner Robins Air Force Base as a section chief. After retirement, he went to work for the Bibb County Sherriff’s office as a bailiff. He retired after 26 years of service.
In addition to dedication to his career, he was a devoted family man. He was predeceased by the love of his life of 66 years, Margaret B. Carter. He was also predeceased by three sisters, one brother and his parents, William and Maude Carter, Sr.
He is survived by three children, Wade Darrell Carter Jr., Sherwood T. Carter (September), Beth Chapman (Chris), ten grandchildren, Janine Helmer, Michelle (Wes) Zellner, Danielle Haywood, Ryan (Karen) Carter, Autumn (Charles) Harvell, Melissa (Freddy) Fonzo, Amelia Huntsinger, Shannon (Brandon) Butner, Matt Chapman, and Kellie Chapman. He was also the proud great grandfather of 12.
