Virginia B. Woodward, 78, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 3, 2015. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Richard Kremer and the Rev. Gene Scarborough will officiate. Members of the Ann Young Sunday School Class are asked to sit as a group during the service. The family will meet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. They suggest that those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Endowment Fund, Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon 31204.
Mrs. Woodward, daughter of the late Durwood Allen Brake and Mildred Elizabeth Lazenby Brake Curtis, was a lifelong resident of Macon. She was a graduate of A. L. Miller High School and had worked as secretary at Cross Keys Christian Academy and First Union Bank. Mrs. Woodward had many hobbies and enjoyed crafting, reading, collecting and watching television with her Dr. Pepper. She was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and the Ann Young Sunday School Class.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of nearly sixty years, Oscar W. “Billy” Woodward; her children, Jeffery Allen (Lori) Woodward and Janet W. (Mike) Carter; her beloved grandchildren, Morgan W. (Bobby) Dickson, Nathan Woodward, Devin Cruse and Cody Cruse, two brothers, three sisters, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
