MACON – Montine Moore, 94, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 with her two daughters by her side. Her service will be Saturday, November 5th at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. James Bruner will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. They may be contacted at the residence of Paul and Faye Barnes.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband of more than sixty years, Howard “Buck” Moore. The daughter of the late Hezzie and Josie Graham Meadows, she was born in Chester where she was a star basketball player at Chester High School. She and her late husband moved to Macon in 1940 and owned Buck Moore Service Station until they retired. She was the sister of the late Essie Lou Skipper.
Mrs. Moore, known to her family as MeMe, was a woman of faith who lived out her Christianity in caring acts of kindness. She lived daily in the fruits of the Spirit, loving others and always known by her grace-filled heart. She loved serving others, visiting residents in nursing homes and often taking meals to friends. Mrs. Moore was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she had taught 4 year olds for many years. One of her great joys was cooking great meals for her own family and most of all, enjoyed being mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Faye Barnes (Paul) of Macon and Sherry Bruner (Steve) of Roswell; her grandchildren, Debbie Cone, Donna Fuller, Stephen Bruner and Shelli Bruner Morrow; her great grandchildren, Jarrod Cone, Meredith Flack, Grace and Faith Fuller, Graham and Ellie Morrow, Brooks and Reese Bruner; her great- great grandson, Miles Cone; her brother, James Meadows (Murriel); her sister, Pauline (James) Rozier.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
