Tommy “Sandy” L. Sanders went to be with his Heavenly Father December 4, 2016. He was greeted by his son Jeffery Sanders, his mother Thelma Land Hall Sanders and his special aunt Eunice Andrews. Please join us as we celebrate his life. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m., at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Joe McDaniel will officiate. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to American Heart Association, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Mr. Sanders was raised in Roberta, Georgia and attended Crawford County High School. He served in the Navy, was a Vietnam War Veteran and received an Honorable Medical Discharge. Then he moved to Macon where he lived the reminder of his life.
Mr. Sanders served on the Macon Police Department and was a self-employed plumber. Sandy loved the Lord and he and Marie were active members of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church and the J. C. Johnson Bible Class for thirty-seven years. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others. Sandy often reached out and gave to those who were less fortunate. He never met a stranger and was very outgoing. Sandy had a large circle of friends. His hobbies and interests included gun collecting, antiques and spending time with family, friends and his pets. He was a devoted husband and Marie was the love of his life.
Leaving his wife of forty-five years, Marie Tidwell Sanders ; children Jason (Amanda)Sanders, Len (Debbie), Cappy (Billy) Walzel and Steve (Connie); grandchildren Brayden, Darren, Rhyon, Nikki, Bodie, Justin, Christopher, Travis, Bryce, Hannah and Shelby; five great grandchildren; sister Mary Lou Payne; special cousin John Andrews and several nieces and nephews to cherish his memories.
