MACON – Tommie Eugene “Gene” Hardy, 72, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2012 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Long will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time on Sunday at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210 or flowers are acceptable.
Mr. Hardy, son of the late Marvin Franklin Hardy and Frances Christian Hardy, was a lifelong resident of Macon. He was a firefighter with Macon-Bibb County Fire Department for thirteen years and the owner of Riverside Tire for thirty-five years. He was preceded in death by his son, Kent Proctor. Mr. Hardy loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. His greatest love was his family and spoiling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Roberta Andrews his family doctor and the staff at Pine Pointe Hospice for the care given to Mr. Hardy.
He is survived by the family he cherished, his wife of fifty-one years, Louella Kjostad Hardy of Macon; his children, Kim Eddy (Shannon) and Keith Hardy (Rhonda), all of Macon; daughter- in- law, Janet Proctor of Macon, his grandchildren, Kelly Reynolds, Kaitlin Eddy, Brad and Abbi Proctor, Kendall and Griffin Hardy; his sister, Kay Sutton of Brunswick; his nephews, Chan and Neil Sutton.
