Tommie J. Allen, Jr., 70, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Elder Garry Hall and the Rev. Bobby Hamlin will officiate. Classmates of Twiggs County High School Class of 1960 are asked to sit together at the service. The family will meet friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. While flowers are accepted, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mr. Allen, son of the late Tommie J. and Rosa Howell Allen, was born in Dublin and was a graduate of Twiggs County High School and Middle Georgia College. He retired from Sears after thirty-four years of employment where he received numerous awards and commendations during his tenure. He also worked as Senior District Manager at Walthall Oil Company before retiring after ten years. Mr. Allen was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church and was a former member and past president of Twiggs County Jaycees. Mr. Allen was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He cherished his family and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Nell Allen.
Survivors include those he loved most, his wife, Judy Lindsey Allen of Macon; his daughter, Bonnie Allen Little of Suwanee; two sons, Tommie J. “Mac” Allen, III of Jeffersonville and Lindsey Hamrick Allen (Karen) of Winder; his grandchildren; Michele and Melissa Little, Maria Allen Lonadier (Nick), Jessica Allen, Ryleigh, Josey and Garrison Allen, and great-grandson, Sidney Lonadier; his brother, Robert J. Allen (Lori) of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
