Mickie was baptized as a member of Elam Baptist Church on August 28, 1966, and was an active participant in serving the church and community.
She was a floral designer at Miriam’s Flower Shop and was known for her hard work and creative energy. Growing flowers and gardening made her happy. She had a small garden of snap beans, tomatoes, and peppers she grew every year, which she shared with friends and family.
Mickie also enjoyed painting and sketching. She was quite the artist. She had many pictures displayed in her home of her artistic creations. She also was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes for her children and making quilted blankets for her each of her grandchildren.
Her greatest passion was baking and cooking. She was known for her fried chicken, buttermilk pies, tacos and cube steak with gravy and biscuits. She was an excellent cook and loved to have people over for a home cooked meal. She spent many hours in the kitchen baking pies and cakes, sharing them with family, neighbors and friends, homebound loved ones. Cooking for her family was how she expressed her love, she made sure everyone had their favorite meal on their birthday.
Family was very important to her, she was a devoted wife and caring mother who made sure we had food on the table, lunch money for school, and ensuring our needs were met. She spent time with family and enjoyed her annual trips to the beach with her granddaughter Alex, traveled to Japan with Teresa, Gary, Billy, Alex and Blair. She loved Las Vegas and spent time there with Billy and Judy Theriault. She went on a cruise with Tammie, Mark, Daniel, Sonni and Billy. She would often stay for extended periods of time with her daughter Tammie, and they would work in the yard gardening and planting flowers. The time she spent with her family was her happiest times.
