Shirley Baker Bobbitt, 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 21st at Forest Hills United Methodist Church following a private graveside service for family at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Towson and Rev. Teresa Edwards will officiate. The family will greet friends from 5 until 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Bobbitt was born in Macon and had lived here for most of her life. She attended A. L. Miller High School and Mercer University. Mrs. Bobbitt was the daughter of the late Capitola Schulman and Johnnie Gary Baker and was preceded in death by her daughter, Caren Trammell in 2010 and a brother, Herman Baker in 1993.
Mrs. Bobbitt was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, active with the church choir, a member of the Burks Sunday School Class, the Dorcas Circle and many other activities. She was a member of the Wesleyan Woods Garden Club and was a former Girl & Cub Scout leader. Mrs. Bobbitt loved singing, bird watching and sharing flowers with her friends.
Mrs. Bobbitt is survived by her husband, James Cary Bobbitt, III of Macon; son, Jeffrey H. (Elizabeth) Bobbitt of Macon; grandchildren, Lucy Bobbitt, Harrison Bobbitt, Justin Trammell and Josh (Mallory) Trammell; son-in-law, Jimmy Trammell of Rome.
