Samuel Turner “Chuck” Ray, III, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church with Father Theodore Ehmer officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 859 First Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Chuck was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Samuel T. Ray, Jr., and Lou Wright Ray. He was preceded in death by his son, Sam Ray, IV; and sister, Judy R. Reitz. Chuck served his country in the U S Navy and was retired after forty-eight years as a Master Mechanic with Huckabee/Hutchinson Auto and was the Roadside Serviceman for Cadillac. He was a charter member of Highland Hills Baptist and a member of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. He was the owner of Ray’s Concessions Finest Fun Foods for fifty years known for “The Pink Truck” and his cotton candy and candy apples. Chuck was a member of the Optimist Club and volunteered for Relay for Life. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Irene Roney Ray; daughters; Chrissy (Guy) Holland, Donna (Wesley) Dennison and Denna Bradford; grandchildren; Niki (Dewayne) Skinner, Jessica (Kendall) Stephens, David-Lee (Camelia) Bradford, Rebekah (Kyle) Stammer; great-grandchildren; Dylan, Chris, Issac and Jackson; brother, John Coleman Ray and several nieces and nephews.
