Mrs. Ruth Lucas Creter, 101, of Macon died Friday. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in Riverside Cemetery entering at the Madison Street entrance. Visitation will follow immediately after the funeral service. The Rev. Cile Mitchell, Pastor Jim Braswell and the Rev. Tommy Martin will officiate.
Mrs. Creter, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lucas, was born and educated in Luray, Virginia and moved to Macon in 1928, where she met her husband, Stuart A. Creter. Mrs. Creter, along with her husband Stuart and her father-in-law, Lewis P. Creter, opened Creter’s Cards and Gifts in 1947 in downtown Macon on Cherry Street. This business legacy remains open today in the Ingleside Village Shopping Center. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was known as “Mimi” to her family and friends. Mrs. Creter was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was very active in the activities of the church.
Mrs. Creter is survived by her daughter, Barbara Creter Every of Macon, a son Neil S.( Marsha) Creter of Macon; 3 grandchildren, Patsy (Steve) Knott, Margaret(Jay) Dennard and Stacey Moring; 5 great grandchildren, Taylor Knott, Lindsey Knott, Trey Dennard, Will Dennard and Andrew Moring.
