Rose Petty Willingham, 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Micah Carr officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 212 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
Rose was born in Macon, Georgia to the late James Calhoun Petty Sr. and Murrie Elise Hays Petty. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Margie (Bubber) Griggers and brother-in-law, Tom Hoke. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Robins Air Force Base as a manager in the OPM department. Rose was known for her baking and ceramics. She enjoyed making birthday cakes for her grandchildren and her famous chocolate cakes for her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, James Willingham of Juliette, two sons, Chris (Jodi) Willingham of Macon, Jay (Carol) Willingham of Forsyth, grandchildren, Blayze and Scout Willingham, Anna and Thomas Willingham, three sisters, Jean Kent, Laverne (Jerry) Tyson, Linda Hoke, brother, Buddy (Phyllis) Petty, and several nieces and nephews.
