Ronald “Ron” A. Gary, 66, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Athens, GA. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Historical Sanctuary, Eatonton, GA with burial at 2 p.m., Saturday in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Dave Hinson and the Rev. Jay Meadows will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 3129, Eatonton, GA 31024.
Mr. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly Allen and Edna Estelle Kenemore Gary, by his stepmother, Helen Gary Jackson and a brother-in-law, W. L. Meadows. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Eatonton. He was a graduate of Grady High School, Atlanta and earned his BA Degree at Georgia State University. Mr. Gary was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a Forecast Manager with BellSouth retiring after thirty years. He was a lifetime member of AT&T Pioneers and was a past president of the Optimist Club of Atlanta. Mr. Gary was an active member of the Twin Bridges Fire Association in Eatonton. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Georgia Tech Fan.
Survivors include the family he adored, his wife of thirty-six years, Lynn Hopkins Gary of Eatonton; three sisters-in-law, Gelaine (Donn) Felker of Dalton, Patsy (Tommy) Wilson of Forsyth and Cheryl H. Meadows of Macon; several nieces and nephews, Clayton (Christine) Felker, Camberly (Chandler) Coe, Tammy (Sean) Johnson, Chad (Marti) Wilson, Rev. Jay (Marsha) Meadows and Casey (Jan) Meadows; his great nieces and nephews, Delaney and Aiden Felker, Thelonious and Corinna Coe, Hampton and Zane Johnson, Morgan, Marleigh and Mercer Meadows.
