Robert “Rob” Edward Slocumb, Jr., 28, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022. A Celebration of his Life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Northway Church with visitation following. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Jack Gregory and Rev. Kevin Mills will officiate.
Rob was born in Macon, GA on January 31, 1994. His family learned early in his life that he was an exceptionally special child. Health complications prevented Rob from experiencing a typical childhood and adulthood. He was the first and only graduate of Creekside Academy, a school built and founded just for him by his Granddaddy Burke. His education was directed by his special aunt, Paige “Bahki” Slocumb. Rob was currently working full time on his doctorate from Creekside University at the time of his passing. He intensely loved his family and friends but would make it known with a “pinch” if he was ever dissatisfied with anything. Although his time here was short, Rob left a large impact and instilled some of life’s most important lessons in everyone he encountered. While his earthly body was limited by medical obstacles, his family is confident that he has been ultimately healed, and he is now living his eternal life with his savior, Jesus Christ.
Rob is survived by his parents, Robert and Sherry Slocumb; sisters, Ashley Slocumb Pyron (Justin), Shannon Slocumb Ethridge (Chad) and Natalie Slocumb Barron (Cole); nephew, Wilder Pyron and niece, Wrenn Pyron; paternal grandmother, “G-ma” Margaret Slocumb; maternal grandmother, “Mama Joy” Joy Newton; his loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Burke Slocumb Jr.; maternal grandfather, Alvin Newton Sr.; maternal grandmother, Polly Sparrow; maternal grandfather, David Sparrow; aunt Jenny Ewing; cousin Beau Slocumb; and cousin, Hattie Slocumb.
