A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Christ with the Rev. Scott Dickison officiating. Entombment will precede the service at 9:45am in the Mausoleum of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday night from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place, Macon, 31201 or Mercer University, Education Department, 1501 Mercer University Drive, Macon, 31207.
Robert was born in Sonora, Kentucky to the late Eugene and Minnie P. Puckett Richardson and grew up in Munfordville, Kentucky. He was a pastor, counselor, college administrator and graduate teacher. Robert retired from Mercer University in 2002. He will be remembered for his leadership skills, patience, and personal interest he took in those he met along the way.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sylvia O’Neal Richardson; children, Michael (Brigid) Richardson, Marsha (Chris) Samellas, Sheryl Richardson, and Larisa (Tarver) Joiner; grandchildren, Morgan, Evan, Emma Kate and Hank; and brother, David Richardson.
