Richard E. Tomberlin, a life-long resident of Macon, GA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the age of 80 years old. He was born, November 30, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia to Ernest and Ruth Attaway Tomberlin. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Howell officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
He graduated from Lanier High School in 1958. In 1962 he received a BBA degree from the University of Georgia where he was a member of Alpha Kappa PSI business fraternity.
After graduation, he was employed by Inland Container Corporation for 6 years and then was employed by Procter and Gamble Distributing Company for 28 years in grocery retail operations out of Atlanta. When he retired from P&G, he worked for different marketing firms and at the time of death was employed by PLM Marketing.
On August 20, 1961, Richard married Carol Thompson, his high school sweetheart. During these 59 years, they enjoyed an undying love for each other and were faithful to God and the church. They were avid saltwater fishermen and enjoyed many trips to the Gulf.
For the past 6 years Richard attended Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia. As a member of his previous church, he served many years as worship leader, treasurer and deacon.
Richard’s memory will live on with the love of his life, Carol, three sons; Darrel R. Tomberlin (Andrea), Mark S. Tomberlin, Jason T. Tomberlin (Eden); four sisters; Sylvia T. Davis (Paul), Martha T. Dunlap, Delinda T. Canon (Wendell), and Arlene T. Baron, five grandchildren, Taylor Tomberlin, Savannah Tomberlin, Reagan Tomberlin, Alexis Tomberlin and Lily Tomberlin.
