Richard C. Harris, Jr., 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, September 4, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00am at Northway Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Haygood, Rev. Ron Holland and Rev. Kevin Mills officiating. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Richard was born in Woodbury, Tennessee to the late Richard “Charlie” Harris, Sr. and Robbie Robinson Harris. He served in the United States Army and was retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation as an electrical engineer. Richard was a member of Northway Church, Connections Sunday School Class, was a Deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He was the business administrator at Vineville Baptist Church for eight years and was involved with “Builders for Christ.” Richard also enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Hayes Harris of Macon; son, Todd Harris of Gray; daughter, Lori (Jeff Gaskins) Harris of Atlanta; grandchildren, Taylor Jackson of Atlanta, Graham and Blake Jackson of Milledgeville, and Michael and Katelyn Harris of Gray; sisters, Wanda Yule of Kansas City, Missouri and Anna Patrick of Auburntown, Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
