Clarence Randolph “Randy” Rowland, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior, January 19, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with the Dr. Baxter Hurley officiating. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given in memory of Randy to Forest Hills UMC, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Randy was born in Peach County on May 16, 1940 to the late Clarence and Fannie Mae Borders Rowland. He was preceded in death by his grandson-in-law, Deputy Michael Norris; sister-in-law, Sheila Pierce; and brother-in-law, Jerry Naylor. Randy was a 1959 graduate of Byron County High School. He began his printing career with Rowland Printing Company in 1960 and retired from Panaprint in 2010. Randy was a 50-year member of Forest Hills UMC where he was a member of the Grace Sunday School class and the Chancel Choir. He attended the Tuesday morning Men's Prayer Breakfast and was a volunteer for River of Life. He coached Little League at North Macon Park in the 70s and 80s from t-ball through 17 Youth. Randy loved golf and until recently could be found on the course twice a week. He was the longest continuous member of River North/Healy Point and was an active member in the Senior Dixie League. He was honored to play in the annual Seniors Tournament at The Farm in Dalton, GA, playing with his cousin, Warren, the past several years. Randy was a volunteer for Rebuild Macon and was a member of the Middle GA Woodworkers. He was an amateur photographer, winning awards at the GA State Fair and Regional Kodak competitions. His talents were immeasurable. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help out his neighbors and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dot Pierce Rowland; children, Cindy (Bobby) Perkins, Cherry (Chris) Carr and Chris (Julie) Rowland. Proud “Randad” of his granddaughters, Logan (Patrick) Norris Doyle, Abigail Carr and Samantha Rowland; great grandson, Ridge Doyle; great granddaughter, Haylee Doyle; sisters, Loretta (Bob) Hanks, Eleanor Naylor, Carol (Wayne) Marler; brother, Steve (Ann) Rowland; brothers-in-law, Cliff (Ann) Pierce and Calvin (Jan) Pierce; several nieces and nephews.
