Plumer "Pops" Kelley, 79, passed away in Savannah, Georgia on the afternoon of Thursday, September 24, 2020. His life will be celebrated on Monday, September 28, at 2 o'clock, in the chapel of Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, led by Rev. Caleb Newberry. Burial will follow services, in Evergreen Cemetery, St. James Ave. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening, September 27, from 4 until 6 o'clock.
Plumer was born in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Hershel Kelley and Gussy Pitts Kelley. He worked for over 43 years for Moisture Control, a commercial restoration company. Plumer was a former member of the old Parkway Baptist Church. Pops loved the outdoors and gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren, teaching and encouraging at every opportunity. The nickname "Pops" began in his workplace, and stuck. Family, friends, and strangers alike called the man they loved, Pops to this day.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Jewel Murray Kelley, her children, and his siblings.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Doug Kelley; grandchildren, Michelle Kelley (David Rincon, Jr.); Christy Howard (Alex Nicholson); Brenda Nettles; Luther "Luke" Newsome; Larry Kelley; 16 great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Mary Sue and Bobby.
Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, has charge of arrangements.
