Philip Edward Simmons

Philip Edward “Chief” Simmons, Sr. passed away Friday, September 14, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. Father Dawid Kwiatkowski will officiate. The family will greet friends following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 .

Mr. Simmons was born in Macon and was the son of the late Agnes Miralgia Simmons and Fred Whitten. He was the owner of Georgia Wholesale Distributors and was a United States WWII Army veteran. Mr. Simmons was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Florence J. Simmons of Macon; children, Judy Simmons (Russell) West of Macon and Philip “Dink” E. (Janie) Simmons of Macon; grandchildren, Hannah Simmons, Spencer Simmons; nieces and nephews, Nancy Canipelli Little and Vince Canipelli.
