Paula Ann Elizabeth Kaufmann Hisel, 80, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Byron United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Rev. Josh Bizell will officiate. Burial will be in Andersonville Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Byron United Methodist Church, 103 W. Heritage Street, Byron, GA 31008 or the Marine Corps League, Middle Georgia DET 970, PO Box 4723, Macon, GA 31213 to benefit Toys for Tots.
Paula was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Max Gustof Kaufmann and Rosemary Gallager Kaufmann Windle and was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Paul Hisel. Paula was a member of the Byron United Methodist Church and a member of the Byron Historical Society. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Franklin Hisel of Byron, daughter, Mary Katherine Hisel Smith Rapp (Scott), son, Thomas James “TJ” Hisel (Jennifer Swain), grandchildren, Misty Marie Smith, Tiffany Ann Smith, Cameron Rapp, Chelsa Rapp Mattingly, Gracie Swain, Dillen Swain, and Thomas Joseph Hisel; 2 great-grandchildren, Mia Rose Mattingly and Carter James Kalani.
