Nancy Catherine Long, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 7, 2019 surrounded by her family. A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Len Strozier officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, 158 Lamar Road, Macon GA 31220 or donor’s favorite charity.
Nancy was born in Johnson City, TN to the late Harold H. and Nancy Moore Mayfield. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jake C. Long, Jr. and her brother, James Harold Mayfield. She was a former member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church and charter member of New Heights Baptist Church where she served on various committees, Deacon, Sunday School and worked in the church office. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kitty and Tony Widner of Macon, son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Tina Long of Macon, daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Steve Melton of McDonough, grandchildren and their spouses, Matt and Brooke Widner, Ashley and Cody Martin, Sarah and Hunter Wilkinson, Travis and Valerie Melton and great granddaughter, McLane Widner.
