Matthew Stephen Able, 39, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at a local hospital. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Father Mike Cavanaugh and Deacon Dave Hayden will officiate. A Rosary will be said at 5 p.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel Cherry Street. The family suggests that those who wish may make memorial contributions to Mount de Sales Academy, 851 Orange Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Mr. Able, son of the late Stephen O. Able, was born in Dallas, TX and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was a graduate of Mount de Sales Academy and Georgia College and State University and was an Emergency Dispatcher with the Georgia Forestry Commission. Mr. Able was a founding member of the Buffalo Bills Fan Club in Macon. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his mother, Patti B. Able of Macon; his brother, Michael Joseph (Betsy) Able of Savannah; two nieces, Jordan and Emily Able of Savannah; his uncle, John Edward “Jay” Mullins of Greenville, SC and his step grandmother, Alberta Brown of Holly Hill, FL.
