Mary Nell Upshaw

Mary Nell Upshaw, 83, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 beginning at 1:00 pm at Snow's Funerals and Cremations at Macon Memorial Park until service time at 2:00 pm. Pastor Wayne Lenderman will be officiating her celebration of life. Burial will follow the service at Middle Georgia Memorial Gardens.

Mary Nell, Nellie, was born in Cairo, Georgia to Lois and Judson Willis, as the second to last child of 10. In October of 1954 she married the love of her life, JB Upshaw. During their 70 years of marriage Nellie and JB had 4 boys and enjoyed watching their family grow to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Nellie was the matriarch of the family and enjoyed opening her home to serve as a central location to bring everyone together. Over the years she worked several jobs, the last of which was Rheem, where she retired after 18 years. She was an avid bingo player and could be found there most nights of the week. Nellie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Nellie was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Franklin Upshaw and Roger Dale Upshaw, her granddaughter, Nicole Upshaw Land and her siblings, Riley Willis, J.W. Willis, Nora Lee Vinson, Ed Willis, George Willis, Evie Mae Delong, Lynnette Kitchens, Betty Wimberley and Radford Willis. She is survived her husband of 70 years, J.B. Upshaw, children, Robert (Patti) Upshaw, Jerry (Patricia) Upshaw, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
