Mary Frances McConnell, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 15, 2021. A Celebration of her life will be held for family only due to COVID-19 on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Loran Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Mary was born in Athens, Georgia at St. Mary’s Hospital to the late Francis Marion and Mary Ethel McClure. She was preceded in death by her husband Foster Brown McConnell, Jr. Mary lived in Atlanta, Georgia during her formative years and later moved to Macon in 1956 early that year she worked at and co-owned Bryn-Alan Studios and later bought the business with her husband and they changed the business name to Foster McConnell Photography. She later worked for Belk Matthews where she worked on the switch board and in personnel. She was an active member for many years at Park Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member of Mulberry United Methodist Church and was a choir soloist. Mary was a talented singer and dancer, performing for the USO in hospitals around Georgia and Florida, as well as many Army, Navy, and Marine bases entertaining troops during and after World War II.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Arlene Leggett (Wayne); son, Foster B. “Rusty” McConnell, III (Regina); grandchildren, Kim Wolfe (Walter), Amy Prince (Steve), Foster “Mac” B. McConnell, IV (Brittany), and Jaret Grant McConnell (Claire); six great grandchildren; and special friend, MaryLou Mullis.
