Mary Joyce Cranford Walsh, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church. A visitation will be held beginning at 10AM in the Fellowship Hall. Dr. Tim McCoy and Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate. Private graveside services in Riverside Cemetery will follow.
Mrs. Walsh was born in Macon and was very active within the community. She was the widow of Paul Walsh and was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Walsh and her sister, Velma Wooten. Mrs. Walsh was the owner and operator of Paul Walsh Nissan/Honda and a member of Ingleside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walsh was recruited over 25 years ago to help spearhead a campaign to build a free-standing Hospice Home for Hospice of Central Georgia. The dream was realized when Pine Pointe Hospice opened in September, 2010. Mrs. Walsh was active with the Medcen Foundation, the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Macon Rescue Mission for over 20 years, Multiple Sclerosis for over 18 years, and has sponsored a child in India for 18 years. She sponsored the Paul Walsh Nissan/Honda Pro/AM Classic Golf Tournament for over 14 years benefiting MS. Mrs. Walsh also was instrumental in the Medical Center of Central Georgia adding the Luce Heart Institute.
Mrs. Walsh is survived by her daughters, Sherry Dyes of Macon and Pam Trued (David) of Newnan; son, David Walsh (Christie) of Macon; grandchildren, Rebecca Landers, Jimmy Dyes, Misty Dyes, and David Walsh, Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren.
