Mrs. Mary M. Johnson, 89, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home at 12 Noon. The Rev. Norm Yukers and Rev. Drew Porterfield will officiate. The family will greet friends at Macon Memorial from 10:30 until service time on Saturday.
Mrs. Johnson, daughter of the late Henry Alford and Lilly Shaw Mickler, was born in Etowah County, Alabama. She was raised in Twiggs County, Georgia. She moved to Macon, where she met and married Howard Johnson in 1947. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church for 60 years, and was active in C.O.D., WMU, and Mission Friends. Mrs. Johnson, one of 18 children, was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Howard Johnson, Sr.; step mother, Mary Alice Mickler; foster mother, Pearl Estes; her siblings, Louie, Clayton, Minnie, J.D., May Olla, Arthur, H.A., Noah, Bobby, Oneda, and her infant twin.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Richard) Champion; son, Robert Johnson, Jr.; daughter, Debbie Johnson; granddaughter, Stephanie (Drew) Porterfield; great grandchildren, Joshua, Lara and Caleb Porterfield; siblings, Johnny Mickler, Lindberg Mickler, Dot Sayward, Betty Reed, William Mickler, Paul Mickler, and Geraldine Calhoun; and many nieces and nephews.
