MACON – Mandy Jane Phillips, 87, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at a local hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2011 at Friendship Baptist Church (Twiggs County) with burial in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Carter will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phillips, wife of the late William Thomas Phillips, was the daughter of the late Lewis Etheridge Yawn and Retha Towns Yawn. She was a licensed cosmetologist and had worked at Keebler Bakery. Mrs. Phillips was formerly a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught the Singles Sunday School Class and attended Friendship Baptist Church where she loved her church family and her God. She was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors, working with her flowers and fishing. Her most favorite time of all was while raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, L. C. Phillips (Marie Smith) of Macon; her grandchildren, Tommy Phillips, Andy Lynn Phillips and Travis Wayne Phillips, all of Macon; her seven great grandchildren, Austin Phillips, Vanessa Phillips, Andy Lynn “A.J.” Phillips, Gracie Phillips, Destiny Phillips, Delanie Phillips and Brandon Phillips and several nieces and nephews.
