Lou Bradshaw Bailey, age 97, went to be with her Lord on December 24, 2022 at Harrington House, Carlyle Place, Macon. A celebration of her life will be held at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating.
Mrs. Bailey was born to Cecil T. and Ida Bell Askew Bradshaw on January 11, 1925 in Warren County, GA and grew up in the Warrenton-Camak area. She graduated from Warren County High School and moved to Macon to work at the Naval Ordnance Plant during World War II. After the war she was a long-distance operator for Southern Bell Telephone Co. During this period she met and married the love of her life David A. Bailey, Sr. She was a loving wife and homemaker, raising two sons Al and Steve. She was a Red Cross volunteer at their school and often assisted with Cub Scout activities. The family was active at Ingleside Baptist Church since 1954. Lou loved the Mary Martha Sunday School Class and serving as cashier at church suppers. The most important things in her life were love for Christ and for her family. She was a gracious hostess and a gifted cook who baked beautiful cakes and specialized in Christmas divinity and oatmeal cookies.
She and David enjoyed his friends in Exchange Club and hers in Exchangettes, especially trips and sponsoring the GA State Fair. After David retired from Robins AFB in 1977, they completed courses for real estate licensure and worked for Hall Realty for several years as a husband-wife team.
She is predeceased by her brother, Cecil T. Bradshaw, Jr. of Warrenton, GA, her mother Ida Bell Askew Bradshaw, and father Cecil T. Bradshaw, Sr. of Trenton SC, sister Madeline McCord of Camak, GA, sister Elizabeth McCord of Trenton, SC, and beloved husband of 50 years, David A. Bailey, Sr. of Macon GA.
Survivors include sons Al (Sharon) and Steve (Joanne), grandsons Stephen (Jill) and David (fiancée Catherine Kaufman), and great grandchildren Colson and Layla Bailey, along with several nieces and nephews and their families.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Carlyle Place for their kind and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ingleside Baptist Church or donor’s favorite charity.
