MACON - Lottie Jacoba Edewaard Stephenson, 90, of Carlyle Place, died Sunday, March 27, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday at North Macon Presbyterian Church with Dr. James C. Bland officiating. Burial will be private with Dr. David Todd officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to The Gideons International, Macon Central Camp, P. O. Box 26025, Macon, GA 31221-6025 or to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Born in Lemon City, Florida, the sixth of seven children, her family later moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she was a city pioneer and resident of 80 years. Mrs. Stephenson was a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School. She was instrumental in starting Stephenson Insurance Agency as well as the formation of the Coral Ridge Homeowner’s Association. She was a charter member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Stephenson and parents, Cornelius and Clara Edewaard.
Devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her children Joanne Johansen (Paul) of Savannah, Georgia, Judy LaPish (John) of Macon, Georgia, John Stephenson (Debbie) of Atlanta, Georgia and Suzy Suggs of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren LtJG Paul H. Johansen, Jr. (Tracy), John C. LaPish, Benjamin H. LaPish, Elizabeth A. LaPish, John P. Stephenson, Jackson E. Suggs and Davis L. Suggs; great grandchildren Haley M. and Piper Lottie Johansen; brother Orion Edewaard, NJ and sister Adriana (Flossie) McCann, Ohio.
