Laura B. Stokes, 85, entered into her Eternal Home on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with interment in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Reverends Benjamin Newberry and Paul Whitton will officiate. The family suggests that those who wish may make memorial donations to the Bethelites Senior Group, C/O Bethel Baptist Church, 7495 Knoxville Road, Lizella, GA 31052.
Mrs. Stokes was the widow of Charles A. Stokes to whom she was married for fifty-two years. She was born in Lizella, Georgia to the late Myrtice Emma Dent Bloodworth and Kelsey Bloodworth. Mrs. Stokes was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, the Frances Newberry Sunday School Class and Bethelites Senior Group. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie, Jack and Frank Bloodworth, by her grandson, Reese Kelsey Mitchell and by her granddaughter, Wendy S. Owen.
She is survived by her children, Cary (Linda) Stokes of Knoxville, Al (Nancy) Stokes of Lizella, Bruce (Sheila) Stokes of Lizella, Marisa Stokes–Mitchell of Lizella; brothers, Lee Bloodworth of Macon and Marion Bloodworth of Lizella; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild; many loving nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Bloodworth and Frances Stokes, both of Lizella.
