Laura S. Nix

MACON – Laura Sheffield Nix, 91, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Hudgins will officiate. The family will greet friends from 4 until 6 PM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street.

Mrs. Nix was born in Cedartown, Georgia, attended West Georgia College and graduated from the University of Georgia. She was a homemaker and a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, a former member of the Exchangettes and was recognized as an Outstanding Exchangette and was an expert in sewing. Mrs. Nix was the widow of Warren Lamar “Dub” Nix and the daughter of the late Claude Randall Sheffield and Blanche McWilliams Sheffield. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Mack Sheffield, John Good Sheffield and C. R. Sheffield, Jr.

Mrs. Nix is survived by her son, Gary W. Nix of Macon; sister, Nell McCranie of Willacoochee, Georgia; brother-in-law, Harry A. Nix (Bobbie) of Roswell; several nieces and nephews.
