June C. Smith

June C. Smith, 91, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road with Dr. Bill Hardee officiating. A private burial will follow. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.

June was born in Estill, South Carolina to the late Elwood and Eunice Crapse and was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Al Smith; daughter, Jodie Carswell; and sisters, Betty Polk and Dale Mole. She was an active member of Vineville Baptist Church where she was involved in Sunday School, helped lead the Fall Bazar, was a part of the XYZ Senior group, helped with the Linus Project, and was the hostess at Vineville Baptist Church for 38 years. June was past State President of the Ladies Elk Auxiliary and she was an avid Bridge player.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Smith of Washington State; daughters, Julie S. Darragh (Tara) of Macon, and Polly S. Ellington (Ray) of Macon; son-in-law, Ken Carswell of Dublin; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Mary “Richie” Payne of Texas, and Annie Crapse (Chuck) of North Carolina; brothers, John Crapse (Peg) of Texas, Jack Crapse of North Carolina, Paul Reeves of Texas, and Ben Crapse (Janie) of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
