MACON – Julian T. Parker, Sr., 88, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at a local hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at Liberty United Methodist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Military Honors and Masonic Services. The Rev. Bob Shell will officiate. The family will meet friends from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel Pio Nono Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Glen Ministries, 4580 North Mumford Road, Macon 31210 or to Liberty United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6511 Houston Road, Macon 31216.
Mr. Parker, son of the late Lorenzo Carson Parker and Eva Kitchens Parker, was born February 28, 1924 in Haddock where he grew up and was educated. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 106th Infantry Division where he fought and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Following World War II, Mr. Parker was employed by Naval Ordnance Plant in Macon until it closed and then at Robins Air Force Base until his retirement.
Mr. Parker was a longtime member of Lynmore United Methodist Church and was presently a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of DAV and VFW and was also a 32nd Degree Master Mason, Scottish Rite and a member of Al Sihah Shrine Temple. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his son, Terry Parker, brother, E. C. Parker, and a sister, Margaret Parker Williams.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Frances “Bebe” Evans Parker; sons, Tommy (June) Parker of Macon and Gary (Linda) Parker of Juliette; five granddaughters, Susan Parker of Asheville, NC, Kim (Kevin) Raymond of Merritt Island, FL, Stephanie Parker of Atlanta, Stacy (Sam) Renfroe of Byron and Ashley Parker of Juliette; three great granddaughters, Holly Raymond, Kate Raymond and Madison Renfroe.
